The legends tell us mighty Finn Mac Cumhaill, leader of the Fianna, fell in love with Sadbh who was enchanted by a cruel druid, that transformed her into a doe.
Finn was traveling with the Fianna when Sadbh bore their son. Knowing she could not raise her human child while she was a doe, she travelled across Ireland to find Finn and left their child under a rowen tree for him to find. Finn soon discovers him and named him Oisín, meaning little deer!
